Cross Country Calendar – season 2026/27

Sat 17th October – County Trials – Himley Hall, Dudley. Qualification race for Inter County race below.

Sat 21st November – Dave Sunderland Inter County fixture – Himley Hall, Dudley (co-hosted by Warks & Shrops). (West Mids – Cheshire – Cumbria – Here&Worcs – Shrops – Staffs – Surrey – Warks)

Sat 16th January – West Mids Schools XC Champs – Warley Woods.

Sat 6th March – ESAA XC Champs – Temple Newsam, Leeds.

West Mids Schools AA County Trials – Sat 17th October – Himley Hall & Park, Himley, Dudley, DY3 4DF.

The top 10 athletes in each race will be automatically invited to represent West Midlands Schools in the November Inter-County fixture at the same venue. In addition to the top 10 selected there will be 5 discretionary places awarded. Selection for these 5 places will be decided on a case-by-case basis, taking into account current form and performances. This might therefore include those who finish just outside of the top 10 at the Trials as well as those who are unable to compete on the day. All runners will have numbers and recorded times and should wear their area vests where these are available from their team managers, if not they can run in their club vest or PE top. Please can athletes report to the tent by the start line at least 45mins to an hour before their race, to register, pay the entry-fee and pick up their race number.  The number must be securely pinned to the front of their vest/top. Safety-pins will be available on the day although we would ask athletes to bring their own pins where possible. Please can entries be sent to your area manager (where one is in place – see Area Managers tab for details) who will then coordinate them and forward on to me. Where there is no area manager, please send entries directly to me (email below). Entries to be received ideally latest Wednesday 14th October. Entry-fee is £3 payable on the day in cash or by card (we now have a card-machine). Admission to the park is free but there are pay & display car parking charges in operation. **Please note new age-groups categories effective from September 2026 and applicable to the 2 races before Christmas (the County Trials and the Dave Sunderland Inter County fixture). Categories are as follows: U14’s (yr7&8), U16’s (yr9&10), U18’s (yr11&12). This means that yr12’s can now compete in these 2 races unlike in previous years.
